Freak The Mighty

"I never had a brain until Freak came along and let me borrow his for a while, and that's the truth, the whole truth." This is the first line hook from a whopper of a book. You will be tickled and touched, as you spend some time with two middle school boys who have nothing in common, except for their capacity for empahty. One boy has brains to spare, but also grave physical limitations. The other boy has brawn enough for the both off them, but needs help reaching his intellectual potential. Friendship ensues, with a big splash of adventure. The book touches on the topics of friendship, family, bullying, tolerance, and of course empathy. If you can't see a little piece of yourself in either of these two heroes, you're not looking hard enough! (This review also covers the film adaption - The Mighty)
