How to Heal a Broken Wing

In a city full of bustling strangers, only young Will notices a bird lying wounded on the paverment. With his mum's help, he takes it home and nurtures it back to health. Will takes great care to do what is best for the bird: keeping it in a dark and warm box, feeding it day by day, waiting patiently for the weeks to pass while its wing heals. And his ultimate act of empathy is to let the bird go, releasing it back into the square where he first found it. As readers we also empathise with the bird, especially in the moment that it soars safely back into the sky. This is a simple and gently-told story of hope and renewal, with beautiful detailed illustrations that will provoke much discussion with 3-5 year olds.
