Just Mercy

What would you do if someone murdered your child? Could you forgive? Feel empathy for the perpetrator?

After the murder of her daughter, Bernadette, the protagonist of Just Mercy, doesn't know. Her family is strong yet bitterly divided about how to think about the murderer and a just response to the crime, varying from stoicism to anti-death penalty activism to longing for the day of execution.

Just Mercy is a gripping story that takes you through the questions from multiple points of view through the eyes of everyone. This book doesn’t pretend there are any easy answers. This isn’t a made-for-TV heartwarming movie (book) about restorative justice or the power of forgiveness. Nor is it a polemic against the death penalty. The characters' struggles are real and you will find yourself understanding or identifying with each of them.
