Molly's Pilgrim

Molly's Pilgrim is the tale of a young Russian-Jewish immigrant who is struggling to fit in at a new school after emigrating to the United States. I would consider this a classic for Thanksgiving reading lists for children, as it emphasizes being the difficult journey of immigration, the hardships and joys of finding your way in a new place, and the gratefulness one has for the freedoms they found in their new home. Through the young protagonist, Molly, one can see how the pilgrim story can translate into an origin story for all those who emigrate to the United States, and how through sharing that story, others can connect and accept their new neighbors.
