A deceptively simple picture book about standing up for oneself and against bullies. From the inside jacket: Blue is a quiet color. Red is a hot head. Red likes to pick on Blue.Yellow, Green, Purple, and Orange don't like what they see, but what can they do? When no one takes a stand, things get out of hand. Until ONE comes along and shows all the colors how to stand up and count!
This simple watercolor illustrations with ample white space are brilliant for the simple yet profound message of the story. It's a simple picture book, yet it's complex layers make it a perfect book to share with a wide age range of children.
When it comes to bullying, it "Sometimes it just takes ONE!"

Courage and Forgiveness
One thing that is so amazing about this book is not just that it demonstrates the power of one person to change things, it also expresses the value of forgiveness. The hotheaded "red" is not excluded at the end, which is often the fate of the bully in other stories. Instead, red is invited to be a part of the group. One of the colors that had previously been bullied by red is the one who reaches out to be inclusive. Very important message.
