You Are My World

You Are My World is a beautiful book with a profound message about what it means to be human.  The lovely photos of infants are combined with simple phrases written from a baby's point of view. The simple fact that we are wired from birth to connect and communicate is reinforced in a gentle way. How an infant views the world is experienced on an emotional leval that is incomparable to any other book that I have ever read. It conveys a message to parents about  what is really important in their relationship with their infant. It can be read by anyone at any reading leval since the photos convey the baby's feelings and each photo is accompanied by a one sentence message. It is based on research on attachment and neuroscience and the rationale for each message is explained in greater detail. As an Registered Nurse and Lactation Consultant who has cared for new parents for decades, this is the one book that I feel that every new parent and every professional working with new parents should read. When an infant receives empathic, responsive care from birth, they can develop the capacity for empathy that lasts a lifetime. Parents who respond freely to their baby's needs experience greater satisfaction from parenting and deepen their capacity for empathy as well.
