One of the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA) superb RSA Animate series. In this snappy ten-minute video, brilliantly illustrated by Andrew Park from Cognitive Media, social thinker Jeremy Rifkin offers the key ideas from his book The Empathic Civilization. Rifkin outlines the new science of empathy, including the discovery of mirror neurons. The old story that we are essentially individualistic, self-seeking creatures is no longer valid – we are homo empathicus, wired for empathy.

great on science
Rifkin's talk is really good on the science of empathy, and tells the story of mirror neurons and empathy brilliantly.
