The book of The Gruffalo is a modern classic, and this animated film adaptation definitely lives up to its potential.
On a Manchester council estate, Bob, an unemployed family man, attempts to raise money to buy a communion dress for his young daughter. He is driven to extremes - both comic and tragic - to get the cash, and ends up putting his family at risk to do so.
Secrets and Lies is a classic Mike Leigh film, made in his hallmark style with much improvisation by the actors who did not know how the plot would unfold as they began filming. And it works brilliantly.
I don't ususally recommend police procedurals, but this Coen Brothers film is unique in several respects. Officer Marge Gunderson (Frances Macdormand) has to solve a twisted, messy murder case despite experiencing one of the most distracting of conditions: she's extremely pregnant.
Jack McKee is a doctor with it all: he's successful, he's rich, and he has no problems.... until he is diagnosed with throat cancer.
The protagonist does everything she can to keep her relationships with her husband. It's a heart breaking story about the power of love and its almost impossible not to think what would you do if you we're her.
by the way, it's my favourite movie, because it shows with humor the connections of the universe.
it's possible "to wear the characters' shoes" while they try to find and to tell people their concepts about universe and life. and it's what I believe most in life.
Brilliant short 5 minute films showing life of a child in a different country. Aimed at those below around 8 but enjoyable up to 108. You can see the films here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/little-human-planet
