A magical, informative and entertaining documentary of the highest order, In the Land of the Deaf brings a whole new meaning to the concept of foreign language film by exploring sign language and the lives of deaf people in France.
The protagonist does everything she can to keep her relationships with her husband. It's a heart breaking story about the power of love and its almost impossible not to think what would you do if you we're her.
In 1984 East Berlin, an agent of the secret police, conducting surveillance on a writer and his lover, finds himself becoming increasingly absorbed by their lives.
A young man, Victor (Sbaraglia), arrives in Paris where his family have gathered around his seriously ill father Max (Fernán Gómez), a former mogul now deteriorating physically and mentally. Max begins to behave very strangely, as his memories and those of Spain's past begin to cloud his mind.
Great film about people making connections. Features two main characters, a diorvced woman and a divorced man, both of whom have kids who are just about to head off to college. They're both lonely and fearing becoming more lonely. And they meet and begin to fall in love.
In general, this film is about relationships between friends, and how a few hard issues between them have never been discussed. It's about how emotions and frustrations that have evolved over many years have never been dealt with.
Beautiful, strange, funny and moving Finnish film (with great music!) by Kaurismäki about how a man who lost his memory is being offered support and comfort and builds up a new life with other people on the outskirts of society.
